They say the violence is not new, it’s just that we now have mobile phones and social media. Either way, I have recently found myself, like many I am sure, hurting at my core and at times spiraling down into despair. What can I do to make things better? How can I contribute to the change we need in our society?

And then there’s of course my own personal “drama”. Over 4 decades I have walked this earth and I still struggle to name more than 2 things I am good at. I believe we are all born with talents and gifts, so I must have something valuable to contribute. It’s just that sometimes it is hard to see your own.

And so I yearned to do something I could not name. To find my compass, stand tall and walk decidedly in life, knowing exactly what I want to do and why I am doing it. Find my personal truth, my dream. Embody that kind of strong, yet wise and confident determination that I admire in people, especially in women.

Determination, clear vision and a confident voice come from self-knowledge. I knew I needed to look at myself deeply, to understand my feminine soul and nurture its intrinsic qualities. Then I would be able to share my talents and gifts with my family, with my community.

What our world needs right now is brave, empowered people. Women who will embody their sacred feminine, who understand their relationship to the Earth, the Moon and their cycles. We can change the world just by being our true selves.

But where to start? How do I dive within, how do I find my dream? I need tools to help me. The 13 Clan Mothers is a weekend-long workshop based in the Native American tradition that guides women through a process of self-discovery. Using the 13 moon cycles and the feminine archetypes as a frame, women are able to see deep within themselves and understand more of who they are. The 13 Clan Mothers creates a circle of sisterhood that holds the space for each participant as they discover their personal journeys in a safe and nurturing environment.

The teachings enable women to dig deep to find their voice, their vision, their purpose. Alignment with one’s personal truth fosters empowerment and joy. It provides the strength to stay true to one’s chosen path, in the midst of all doubts and outside pressures and demands. Someone once told me that women spend the first part of their lives being taught how to be a woman in this society, and the rest of their lives unlearning so they can be free and happy women instead. The 13 Clan Mothers workshop can help us unlearn the things that stifle our voices and our will, and learn how to be a complete, fulfilled woman.
